Profile - Liz Gibson

Liz Gibson thoroughly enjoys her life as an independent Management Training & Development Consultant. She established herself in this role in 1981 after working for British Airways for ten years. Liz joined BOAC as a Management Trainee and then moved into the Personnel function and Training & Development where she worked with Peter Farey who developed the Leader/Manager instruments. During this time she trained staff through a tremendous culture change in the airline as BOAC and BEA were merged into British Airways.

With the retirement of Peter Farey, Liz Gibson now represents Leaderskill in the UK, in charge of 360 Facilitated® (Upward Feedback®) programs.

Liz is an experienced facilitator of groups and teams and is specifically interested in encouraging appraisal and feedback which she feels is fundamental to good management. She finds working together with managers/leaders and their teams on feedback both challenging and rewarding as team concerns are raised openly, underlying issues uncovered and the whole group moves forward to solutions.

On the training side Liz provides all training services from training needs analysis to design, delivery, on-going support and coaching of programmes. Her main emphasis is on interpersonal skills with programmes ranging from five day residential management training programmes to one or two day workshops in recruitment, appraisal, personal organisation and effectiveness, assertiveness, performance management, career management workshops etc..

Working with groups Liz uses a participative style combining her NLP skills with accelerated learning methods and a good pinch of fun. She is frequently complimented on her friendly style which relaxes everyone and encourages their involvement.

Liz works with a wide cross section of clients and with many of these she has maintained a long-term working relationship. All her clients are international companies and include telecommunications, airlines, food production, nuclear energy provider, medical equipment and botanical gardens.

She is a Member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (MCIPD) and is qualified to administer the Myers Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI). Liz qualified as a Master Practitioner in Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) in 2001.

Liz has been married for 27 years and has two children who will both be at University from Autumn 2002. They have all enjoyed the experience of living abroad from 1985 - 1989 with two years in Barbados and two years in Miami. Liz is also actively involved with her husband's business which ensures she keeps her management skills firmly planted on the ground.

When she is not working Liz enjoys music, singing with the Maidenhead Operatic Society in two fully staged shows a year and playing clarinet in the Maidenhead Concert Band. She loves travelling and in the last year has had two holidays sailing in the Caribbean. She met her husband in BA and their love of aviation has led to part ownership in two vintage aircraft which he flies and she enjoys the ride!
